Books & Series I’ve Been Recommended

Sometimes it’s a dangerous thing being a book lover, because people want you to love and read the same things as they did. But what if you don’t? What if it makes you feel like a dry husk of a person, the only hint of blood in your system the pounding headache in your frontal lobe. What if it makes you actually slap you face into it’s pages because you really can’t believe someone read and enjoyed this, let alone enough to tell other people to pick it up.

Of course, there’s times when the books you’re recommended are fine and good and lovely, all clotted cream and strawberries, kittens and lavender scented sunshine.

Let us discuss!

Ten Signs You May Be a Book Lover

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

Happy Tuesdays lady birds and gentlebeans, hope your Social Distancing is treating you as well as it’s treating me! Finally I have a reason to cross the street when I see people walking towards me. I don’t have to worry about people coming to my door to interrupt Animal Crossing, and I don’t have to go out and socialize in fun but honestly stressful circumstances.

Though I miss sushi. Aozora, my love, please know I will return to you as soon as I am able. *waves kerchief and weeps softly*

This weeks topic was fun, I mean, how often do I get an excuse to talk about my particular reading habits? Never, is the answer, unless I’m explaining to my husband that he always talks the most the second I pick up a book. We can go for hours in complete silence, and it’s as if the moment I start to read, a tap is turned on in his head and all the water comes out as words. What gives, husband man? I know you aren’t reading this, because family never reads blogs. Your side burns are really rad, though.

Villains I Love (& Sometimes Love to Hate)

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

This week was a freebie, so of course it’s riddled with Tamora Pierce, Draco Malfoy, and DINOSAURS. We’re talking villians and antagonists today, ladies and gentlebeans, those delightful foils that we love and hate and without, wouldn’t have a good story to devour.

Also it hasn’t stopped snowing for over 12 hours. This time last week it was near 80 degrees. California is a strange place in so many ways. *hugs her state* but I love you.

Books to Look for in Spring 2020

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

Spring made it’s unsolicited arrival in February this year, forcing us to deal with seventy plus degree weather and general confusion when we should be battling out way through wind driven rain and snow flurries. And with it brought a flood of Spring book announcements, many of which I will take well passed Spring to get to.

Authors & Their Social Media

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

Social Media, that thing I avoid even though lots of sources tell me I should be on them making a name for myself. Except that they are all sort cesspools of gross sometimes and I have enough of that in my life I don’t need more thank you very much. But there are stars in the darkness, after all, and authors and artists tend to be just that, in more ways then one. So if I had a twitter account, here are the people I would follow first.

Books with One Word Titles

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

The subject for this TTT felt too easy. I want a bit of a challenge at least, something to get creative with. One word titles? How can I riff on that? Where can I take such a simple prompt? Certainly not to Bora Bora or a roller derby game like a couple weeks ago.

Oh well, maybe I should be thankful for an easy topic and move on.

EDIT: So! I just realized there have been a ton of comments I didn’t see and/or approve because I didn’t understand how WordPress’s notifications systems work. I’m so sorry to anyone I haven’t replied to or approved, it wasn’t you! It was me expecting email notifications for every comment! Sorry again, I love you all, thanks for checking out my blog.

Characters I’d Follow On Social Media

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

Spoiler: I’m not on social media. There’s so much toxicity that I chose just to stay in my little corner of the interwebs with you nice people and I’m completely fine with that. On occasion I’ve entertained the idea of signing up for Twitter or Instagram for the sole purpose of following a lot of authors, musicians, and actors, but then I remember the world is a dark, ugly place, and even the most carefully curated “following” list is bound to cast a shadow at times.

It’s been a long winter, and I am rather tired of shadows.

But in a fictional world full of fictional people, what would it be like to follow some of my favorite heroes and villains online? Probably awesome, right? Let’s find out.
