The 2021 Wrap Up

*pokes the year with a stick*

Wow, what a year. So much has changed for me over the last twelve months, it’s hard to even know where to begin. Obviously the biggest change was with work, I finally left the food service industry behind, and while there are aspects of it I will always love and miss, for the most part is has been a huge relief to be free of such a stressful work environment. Life at a bookstore isn’t always the most exciting, but I’ll take it in the face of having near constant anxiety and being in pain almost every day.

Being vaccinated was also a huge relief- nothing like plugging my veins full of science and reaping the benefits of it. I still am avoiding most public places, but it’s nice having a little extra defense against the pandemic.

If you’re a regular reader here, then it’s no secret that I am a huge BTS fan (with a heavy side of Stray Kids). It’s no exaggeration when I say that they’ve changed my life. They’ve been a huge source of support and motivation… though sometimes they also prove to be a huge distraction. In general though, being a fan and part of the fandom has really helped my mental health, and I’m looking forward to another year of having a series of complete mental breakdowns enjoying all their various projects.

Then there is, of course, the novel. It’s been a long struggle, years of trying to teach myself how to write one, while struggling with my mental and physical health, led to me completely throwing out a lot of work and essentially starting from scratch. But I finally managed to finish it, and it’s currently getting beta read and so far the feedback has been positive. There’s a few scenes I want to work on, but nothing drastic, and it’s been so nice not having that thing looming in the back of my mind at all hours… I mean, it still is, but at least it’s (mostly) done.

I also managed to complete my reading goals for the year, it helped that I picked up quite a few shorter titles to fluff things up, especially since I typically have a reading slump this time of year. I probably will continue to take a break from books until the start of the new year, but I’ve got some titles I’m really excited for lined up and waiting for me, so hopefully I can start 2022 off with a bang.

Now onto my favorite things from this year, including books, music, videos, and blog posts!

My Favorite Books of the Year

My Favorite Songs of the Year

My Favorite Videos…

My Favorite Posts from Chasing the Four Winds…

And there it is folks! Thank you so much for sticking with me and this silly little blog, I really appreciate every single view, like, and comment I receive! Here’s to a great year full of adventure and creativity!
