Back to Hogwarts Tag

Hello, everybody! Hope your week is treating you well and you’re staying safe out there. I found this tag awhile ago on a Geek Girl’s Guide and would have done it sooner if work hadn’t returned and sort of sent my mental health spiraling out of control. It’s a fun little dip into the Harry Potter universe, imagining if you were a student preparing to return to Hogwarts for another semester. Hope you enjoy and participate!

Here’s a link back to the original post, all credit goes to Michelle for coming up with the questions!

Have to go shopping in Diagon Alley! What store do you go to first?

Easy! I make a point of searching for interesting bookstores when ever I visit a new place, so you better bet I’d be heading straight for Flourish and Blotts! Spell books, history books? Give me! And I’d love to find out what sort of fiction the absurd reality of Harry Potter is producing- what is fantasy like in a world where everything already consists of fantasy? Is that then just literary fiction? I must know!

You’re on the train! What are you getting from the trolley?

Cauldron Cakes! I always pictured them as little cauldron shaped chocolate cake that are piped full of ganache, custard, or clotted cream that sorta bubbles out of the top when you bite into them. Gosh I’m hungry.

It’s time for the welcome feast! Which house table are you at?

Ravenclaw, with all the other book nerds, quietly knowing in our hearts that we have the best house.

You get an elective this year! What will it be?

Hmm… probably Apparition, I’d love to be able to teleport anywhere I needed to go, especially since I don’t drive. Think about how much more vacation time one could get if you didn’t have to factor in the actual traveling! Also, to be able to just leave an awkward or bad situation? Priceless.

You’ve got a break between classes! What will you be doing?

Snogging in the astronomy tower with some dashing, charming, and sarcastic Slytherin, no doubt. Either that or reading in the library or the  common room of the Ravenclaw tower, maybe snacking on some treats from the House Elves in the kitchen.

You get to go to Hogsmeade this year! Where do you go first?

Honeydukes! I want magic candy and I want a huge amount of it to fuel my prolonged reading sessions while sprawled out on the Ravenclaw common room floor. It’s mentioned that they make their own chocolate and fudge. Imagine wizard fudge. Wizard. Fudge. Let that sink in. I bet it’s amazing.

You’re meeting up with friends to hang out! Where in the castle are you all going to chill?

Ahhh… The kitchen probably isn’t a viable answer to every question, is it?

Laying about the lawn by the lake shore sounds nice. Just lazing about, tickling the giant squid’s tentacles, waving to the merpeople, and making eyes at the Slytherin kid. Maybe watching the jocks practice a little Quidditch from a distance.

The end of year exams are coming up. What test will you do the best at?

Herbology, I love plants and gardening, and my brain seems to be more willing to except horticulture information than other forms of knowledge.
