Books I Read as a Child

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

This weeks TTT was supposed to be about books I wish I had read as a child, but I read so many books back then that I have a hard time keeping them all straight. I spent so much time at the library, and with a mother who was a teacher at the local preschool, day care, and learning center, there was never shortage of new books to read at home, either.

If you recognize any, please let me know! It’s always exciting when someone remembers the same childhood favorites.

Titles That Would Make Good Band Names

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

This week’s TTT has got me so hyped! I’m cruising my TBR for books with titles that would make the best band names, and I am here for it. Instead of giving a summary or my thoughts on the book as per usual, though I’m going to describe to you what sort of music they would play and provide a link to someone similar.

Kings & Queens

Hello cats and kittens, it’s time for another iteration of SGS, where we let our nerdiness fly. This week’s questions were all focused on royalty and I had a really good time with it! Behind the cut you’ll find The King of all Cosmos, rebellious princesses, the video game character I would marry if I could, and more!

Books I Enjoyed but Rarely Talk About

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

Hey there people of the words, it’s Tuesday yet again (anyone else feel like time is flying by right now?) and this week I talk about books that I really liked but don’t have a chance to talk about often, mostly because they’re overshadowed by the Big Titles at the Time. I tend to have an eclectic reading list, so there’s titles from all over the board here. World War II history, LGBTQ YA Urban Fantasy, comics, and Hunter S. Thompson all make a showing.

All this! And more! Beyond the cut!

Seriously Geeky Sundays: 02 Easter & Spring

sgs

It’s the start of a new week once again, and Easter! No doubt your day has undergone a lot of changes from your previous celebration of the holiday, if you do so at all, but I hope you have a nice day regardless of what you do with it.

This weeks prompt was all about Easter, spring, and bunnies. So let’s wander into the deep grass of the season and (run from the raptors!) see what we can find

Save Indie Bookstores

Hey people, I usually don’t make two posts in one day, but my local bookstore brought this to my attention.

Save Indie Bookstores

“…our mission to infuse independent bookstores across the country with the financial support they need to remain viable while they are forced to shutter their doors during the coronavirus pandemic. Your contribution ensures that they will survive and continue to thrive when our nation emerges on the other side. As the crisis continues to evolve, so does the goal. Your generous gift counts!”

Books are such an important part of my life, and I know they are for a lot of you as well. Spread the word, here’s a link to their media assets page, and give if you can. Many of us are out of work or living on limited income, but if you or someone you know can give, then let’s rally for our bookstores and the bastions of light and goodness that they are. Thanks! Hope your day is lovely and has cake.

Books & Series I’ve Been Recommended

patrick-tomasso-Oaqk7qqNh_c-unsplash

Sometimes it’s a dangerous thing being a book lover, because people want you to love and read the same things as they did. But what if you don’t? What if it makes you feel like a dry husk of a person, the only hint of blood in your system the pounding headache in your frontal lobe. What if it makes you actually slap you face into it’s pages because you really can’t believe someone read and enjoyed this, let alone enough to tell other people to pick it up.

Of course, there’s times when the books you’re recommended are fine and good and lovely, all clotted cream and strawberries, kittens and lavender scented sunshine.

Let us discuss!
