Top Ten Tuesday: Quotes from my Favorite Books

Sometimes I look at my hands in the light of my computer and I am horrified by how many lines are on them already.

Then I remember they are very dry.

Top Ten Tuesday is simple and clean, like the best Kingdom Hearts song. Straight forward, a no-nonsense pile of quotes for you to ingest on the last day of April. Enjoy!

Top Ten Tuesday is brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl

Book Review: Provost’s Dog Trilogy by Tamora Pierce

No Top Ten Tuesday this week because the subject didn’t spark my interest. Instead you get a review! I can feel your joy and excitement from here- trust me.

Maybe you’ve noticed by now, but I’m super into Tamora Pierce. I got into her when I was eight or nine, because a book called Wolf Speaker was just too cool sounding to pass up. Then I became an actual young adult and I was stupid and delusional and thought that I should be reading more mature books (except for Harry Potter, even though it tortured me with things like S.P.E.W. and Grawp and one dimensional antagonists). Now I’m older, and I realize I should read what I enjoy, because one, it’s better than not reading it all, and two, this isn’t high school and no one is forcing me to read things like The Great Gatsby. Hooray for people with swords and magic!

Top Ten Tuesday: My Favorite Rainy Day Reads

What does that even mean? I’m guessing it means comfort books? Those old, friendly stories you pick up when the weather is right and you’re filled with nostalgia for old companions and roads already traveled. I get very emotionally attached to characters, probably more than real people???? Is that healthy? Is that right? People just run around making me question and doubt myself. Also they are full of strange smells and sometimes eat black licorice. What’s up with that?

Books on the other hand, are consistent. You’re not going to wake up some morning and find out that it’s not responding to your messages, or that it started seeing someone else, or that it’s too busy to hang out. The rainy season’s finally starting to wind down here in the California Foothills, which means those cozy days with tea and the space heater are about to end. But we’re all about wallowing in nostalgia here at Chasing the Four Winds, so why look forward- when we can look back with sparkling tears on our cheeks like anime girls.

Book Review: Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain

Confession: I’m siiiick, and not just in the late 90’s/early 2000’s way (though I am that); but the coughing, sneezing, aching, bubonic plague kind sort of sick that happens when you’re surrounded by the walking germ gardens some refer to as “children”. Thusly, no Top Ten Tuesday this week- instead you get a review I’ve been sitting on for awhile because it’s foul mouthed and kinda strange and also a little rambling. But that’s fine, right? Chances are good that you are also at least a little foul mouthed and have a penchant for strange and also for rambling.

Speaking of rambling- I’m doing it.

*coughs up entire planets of phlegm*

This review starts out with a bit of reflection… also cursing, not too much, but I thought I should warn you, gentle readers. Or maybe you’re used to that by now? Anyway- be warned.

Also I have no pictures of the book because I borrowed it from my mom and forgot to take a picture of it surrounded by knives like I intended.
